According to a recent report by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, more than 10,000 patients sought treatment for mental health conditions at Chainama Health Clinic between January and April this year. This highlights the growing need for strong community support systems around mental health.

During the event, one participant who has been in and out of the facility for 20 plus years, shared that the word Chainama means “I am well, mother” in the local language, explaining that it reflects the unconditional care of a mother and serves as a reminder that seeking help is an act of strength.
A representative of the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary noted, “Mental health is a shared responsibility, and we must continue working together to ensure every person has access to the care and dignity they deserve.”
Sera Kalumbilo, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Officer emphasized the importance of safeguarding human dignity in every Community we serve.
