ZRCS INVESTS K2 MILLION TO TRANSFORM HEALTH AND WATER SERVICES IN LUSANGAZI

Lusangazi, Eastern Province – In a major boost for community health and safe water, Zambia Red Cross Society, with funding from Rode Kruis Netherlands Red Cross, has commissioned new health and water facilities in Satellite 30 and Refugee, Lusangazi District.
The project, valued at over K2 million, includes a maternity annexe, a mother’s shelter, a solar-powered water system, handwashing stations, a VIP toilet, a livestock trough, and a rehabilitated outpatient department. These facilities are designed to improve access to quality health care and safe water for thousands of residents, supporting families 120 km from Petauke CBD.

The commissioning on 17 and 18 September coincided with a joyful milestone as both facilities welcomed newborn baby girls, highlighting the direct and immediate impact of the investment. The new maternity services are expected to serve countless mothers and children in the years ahead.

Through this initiative, ZRCS reaffirms its commitment to strengthening health and water services, ensuring that communities have the support they need to thrive. The society continues to prioritize interventions that empower mothers, safeguard children’s health, and improve overall community well-being.
