The drought response, distributed ZMW 600 per month for four months, to each household, providing crucial support during a time of food insecurity. Nelia Mumba, one of the beneficiaries, shared her gratitude, stating, “This help has come at a time when many households are struggling with hunger. The maize from this year’s farming season is not yet ready, so we are still facing food shortages.”
Being auxiliary to Public authorities & with support from ECHO PPP (European Union), the response totaled 14 million Kwacha. The program integrated cash assistance with long-term solutions such as climate-smart agriculture and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives through the rehabilitation of boreholes in communities. These measures aim to help communities adapt to the effects of climate change and build resilience for future crises.

Headman Manyonyo of Nalwama chiefdom expressed gratitude for the support, particularly for vulnerable groups like the elderly, breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women, and persons who are differently abled. He commended ZRCS for stepping in at such a critical time.
